October 7
The week was a bit crazy.
09/27, Friday: We sent out shipments via Meest – 377 lbs of medical supplies for frontline medics and hospitals to Kharkiv (with 8 boxes of gloves from Yan Babichenko), 31 lbs of frontline medical supplies to Lviv (with additional contributions from Alexandra Obraztsova and Vadik Soldatov ), 16 lbs of ostomy supplies to Dnipro.
10/01, Tuesday: Picked up some custom-sized cardboard boxes in Framingham. Now we can pack the large surgical lamp donated by Alexander Angelov. Arkady Zilberberg contributed 4 boxes of medical supplies from himself and 2 more from our friends, shipped from Philadelphia.
10/02, Wednesday: Picked up supplies from donors in Milford and North Easton.
10/03, Thursday: Picked up supplies from donors in Woburn and Worcester. On the way, I managed to meet with our regular partner, Susanna, in Hudson, who handed over another batch of IV supplies.
10/05, Friday: Met with our doctor, Boris and Maria Bronfine, in Lexington. We received a full load of medical supplies that still needs sorting. Boris also sent surgical headlamps to Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt Hospital and Dnipro’s Mechnikov Hospital.
The lamps, complete with batteries (which can only be carried as hand luggage, not shipped), and other accessories, along with additional tactical medical supplies for assembling medical backpacks, were delivered to our friend Frank in Cambridge, who kindly agreed to take them on his flight. From Europe, they'll be sent overland from Germany to Ukraine.
10/06, Saturday: We were thinking of staying home, but there were surgical supplies up for grabs in Boston – sutures are always needed. So, we went.
Now we just need to sort through everything we brought back and prepare the next shipments.
